Case Study: An Evening With

I created An Evening With as a platform for recognizing artists, leaders, innovators, and cultural change makers while giving the broader community an opportunity to hear their stories. This program culminated in quarterly events creating a meaningful experience for both the audience and the person being celebrated. The program was sponsored by the organization and offered free to the public, making access part of the strategy.

Building the Program

I conceived and developed the program from the ground up, establishing the concept, structure, audience strategy, communications, and experience.

Creating the Experience

Each evening was intentionally designed around the honoree. Rather than following a standardized awards-show format, the experience created space for the audience to understand the person behind the work. The centerpiece was a full onstage interview, supported by media and visual storytelling, allowing the honoree's career, perspective, accomplishments, and legacy to become the heart of the evening.

Integrated Creative Direction

I connected the dots between:

Nomination → Selection → Storytelling → Media → Promotion → Event Experience → Recognition → Legacy

The brand and messaging needed to remain consistent whether someone encountered the program through a nomination announcement, press coverage, promotional materials, social media, or the live event itself. The result was a cohesive and beloved program—not simply a series of individual events.

I developed a unique and classic brand, with an upscale and timeless design that was consistent across mediums and became recognizable to our audiences.

Impact

An Evening With created a new platform for recognition while making meaningful conversations with influential artistic voices accessible to the broader community. By making the event free to the public and supporting it through organizational sponsorship, the program removed the traditional barrier between recognition and access.
