Teaching Artist

As a professional director, fight and intimacy director, Ashley’s real-world experience sets her apart.

She has coached students in stage combat, characterization, and auditioning techniques at the Dallas, Flower Mound, Little Elm, Mesquite, and Wylie school districts, and often leads workshops of all ages for other theaters and organizations, including a six-week workshop at Watertower Theatre in 2017, at Dallas Comedy House and The JIM Experiment. Through SC Dallas, she leads regular training classes and workshops year-round.

Her philosophy focuses on three key elements: body, breath, and voice. We are given all three, but so often we only focus on one. Knowing how to use each of them individually is paramount, and learning to combine them is how you get to an honest and effective performance.

Ashley has provided teacher and staff training to major districts, including Denton ISD, Irving ISD, Grand Prairie ISD, and More. Ashley was the first-ever Intimacy Director to introduce the work to the prestigious Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

In 2019, Ashley was one of the featured speakers at Texas Educational Theater Association’s annual conference. In January 2020, she will lead the pre-conference for the Shakespeare Theater Association’s national conference.

She has taught at numerous regional workshops, including the 2019 Texas Intensive and the 2018 and 2019 Lonestar Smash.

She is the head of the Movement & Physicality Training at Stomping Ground Comedy Theater.

Ashley has a passion and a drive for teaching. Please contact her today to schedule a workshop.
